Terrible Experience

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

The taketours.com or M&Y tour is a scam company. We took 4 days trip with them.

First, they provided us 1 to 2 stars hotels and motels at all the places. Those were the worst available hotels in those areas. Whereas we paid for Holiday Inn or equivalent hotels. We were asked 30$ for the Niagara fire cracker show, which was free for the public.

Only stay and bus ride is included in the package. No food or even water is included in the package. You will not get even free water at the motels/cheap hotels.A hiddenn charge of $12 per person per day tip (including infants and old) was forcefully collected. The guide named Jason was rude, aggressive, hostile and very abusive, especially when you don't take the optional activities.

He was talking more in Chinese and was with chinese tourists most of the time. He was not fluent in speaking as well as in understanding English. He spent most of his time trying to collect money from the tourists. Since most of the places in the itinerary was paid and optional the trip cost will increase multifold, or you don't get to see anything.

Only you just drive past the cities. Bus seats were full and cramped and they changed four buses in four days. Jason was also drove the bus, which was very unsafe. At times he was driving dangerously.

At some places you will have to pay extra for the local guide extra as they say local guide is required at that place.

Most probably they are from their company only. Motels/Cheap hotel staff were also rude.

Rocky mountain tour in May 2023:No value for money-Been There Tour:

Taketours did not fulfil its commitment for airport pick up. Most of the places indicated in itinerary were passed by.It was 70% travel/hotel stay.

Many photo shoot stops (15-20 mimnutes) on the way were skipped despite a request. Guide and driver were in a hurry to complete the day as early as possible(6PM). Food taste of non-Chinese tourists was not taken care of. Majority tourists were Chinese who will take side of the Chinese guide and will show adverse body language to other tourists if they complain of service duty deficiencies.

Racial attitude towards non-Chinese tourists. Bad English speaking of the Chinese tour guide(MacDonald will be pronounced as Madona).Hotels were good but located on outskirt.

Look & book elsewhere

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

TLDR: TakeTours’ carelessness and poor communication resulted in my booked trip being cancelled, which left my wife and I stranded in Grand Canyon with only a few hours to find a different way back to Las Vegas. I recommend looking elsewhere for your booking needs.

At the very least, be wary of random cancellations from TakeTours.

I booked a bus trip from Las Vegas to Grand Canyon for my wife and I through TakeTours. They operate as a third-party contact for a bus company. The bus company itself was fine, as other reviewers have noted in their reviews of TakeTours. The following review is exclusively for my experiences with this third party--TakeTours (not the bus company).

Right from the beginning, TakeTours was not pleasant to book with.

I had to use their website’s live chat to get enough information to eventually book two separate one way trips: Vegas to Grand Canyon, then Grand Canyon to Vegas so we stay in the canyon overnight. They were eventually able to provide sufficient information, but the customer service rep was not able to communicate very effectively in English.

Two nights before our departure from the canyon I got an email from TakeTours confirming the time and date we were to be picked up.

The next day I received an update from Take Tours in broken English that said: “

Dear Customer

Please note that the pick up time has changed to 330PM from Bright Angel Lodge, So what arrival back to Las Vegas will be at 10PM. If this delay does not work out for you we can go ahead and cancel your booking, Please let us know by 6PM PST today otherwise we can not longer cancel

Thank You

I almost replied to say that the delay is fine and we didn’t want to cancel. However, their English was so poor (e.g.

from the email and the live chat while booking) that I was afraid they might cancel on us if I responded at all because they might misinterpret that as a “confirmation of their cancellation inquiry”. So I didn’t reply at all in order to retain the status quo.

The morning we were supposed to leave, I woke up to a pair of emails and a phone message from TakeTours saying that they cancelled our trip and resold our seats, so our only option is to reschedule for the next afternoon. This would not have worked, because I had a flight to catch and my wife had a conference to attend in Vegas the next day.

I spent several hours and lots of roaming data that morning calling the bus company and TakeTours. It turns out that the bus company wanted to check with us about the schedule change, but they had to go through TakeTours.

TakeTours assumed I would “rather reschedule for the next day” and decided to send me a poorly written email with an ultimatum. It should have read: “respond within six hours or else we will cancel your trip”, but it seemed to say the opposite.

So, TakeTours cancelled on us. By this time it was too late for them to fix their mistake and my wife and I wasted the last morning of our vacation trying to make other arrangements to get back to Las Vegas in time for our flight/conference.

Not an easy task, as there are no other options to get directly to Vegas.

The only thing Take Tours did to try and “make things right” was to refund the money I spent on the booking that they cancelled without proper reason or notice. After factoring in the exchange rate, we lost money on the transactions.

I bought 2-day tour from NYC to DC. I paid on the website the whole amount.

The bus was terrible, we were barred from use on-bus toilet. The stops were short and in Chinese.

When we got to DC I was approached by our tour guide Blake Wong (a Chinese woman with terrible English). She demanded $60 as service fee, which apparently they ask everyone. When she was refused that, we were left alone for a while.

Then, on the way back to NYC when we stopped in the middle of nowhere, our bus driver tried to deny us from boarding. That lead to an argument and a 911 call.

When police showed up, they took our side but advised that if we want to get home before midnight , we need to pay the fee. I offered my AMEX but the tour guide refused it, and only agreed to take it after police men pressed on her

Fast forward to 3 days later I'm trying to dispute it all, because it was a clear scam and a court case of racketeering.

We booked a trip with this company the first week of July from Montreal to Ottawa for three people on a deLuxe coach bus with an English-speaking guide and a professional bus driver In the morning we gathered with four other customers at the meeting point and found out that there was no bus but a guy with an old minivan whose English we just could not understand

he extinguished his last cigarette next to the minivan and invited us all in and clearly was not a professional guide or a professional bus driver or anybody with a functional English

First we thought he would take us to the bus - only about after getting on the highway we realized that this was the trip since there was no explanation from the driver/guide coming only an intense tobacco smell in the car

We asked to be returned to the pick up point which he didn’t understand then we wanted to get out of the car which he Finally agreed to and drop us off at a far suburban metro station of Montreal

I had about four phone conversations and 20 email messages with the company and each time a different person both reply with utter nonsense and wouldn’t address my complaint

They written English skills of the customer service is also extremely poor - Which gives you the impression that they just want to wear you down

they finally agreed to give me a $10 refund for $103 trip I booked which they said was their sole responsibility since they are just the booking company

They told me the booking was with gray line tours of Canada and that company was definitely not the guy with the minivan

so we have been ripped off

Please do not book any tours with these guys your day will be ruined you will not get your money back and you will be treated by extremely stupid people who masquerade as customer service

This guy goes by the name Kai and this is the picture of the “deluxe coach” minivan

I had to give one star for all of the evaluation domains because no stars wasn’t available

How I wish I did some research before booking the tour with Joy Holiday via taketours.com.

We booked a 7-days tour from Las Vegas, Los Angeles to San Francisco. The first two days spent in LV was okay (I tried to be as linear as I can despite their unprofessional service) until we had to change to another different bus with another tour guide named Tommy.

His English is terrible; he couldn't explain clearly what the service or option they offer. When I first booked the trip online, I read the itinerary and saw there are two different options for the day in San Diego:

San Diego city tour $65

San Diego city tour + Sea world $150

After checking the price for the Sea World's ticket, I know it will cost $70 for only booking and $90 if you buy from their ticketing office. So the $150 for both the services make sense to me. And so we choose it as we think we will have a chance to experience 2 activities on the day.

But then when we asked the tour guide, he said we don't have time to join the city tour with other guests and go to SeaWorld as well, so he left us at SeaWorld San Diego from 9 am to 5.30 pm.

I tried to contact taketours.com as I made my booking from this website as I think this may be not the tour guide's mistake but the operation of Joy Holiday itself. But what I received is terrible. They forward to me the message from the tour guide saying that we never say anything to complain about the tour with him, it means that we are happy with the service.

What I want to know here is, why didn't they answer my question about the activities that we supposed to have. If I knew I couldn't get to join the city tour from the beginning, I wouldn't pay $150 for the SeaWorld ticket, you know it's ridiculous buying a ticket which cost $80 extra if you buy it yourself.

I have started my 3 day tour to Niyagara Falls, DC and Philadelphia. There was no clarity on transportation details.

Report time was 6:30 am however the bus arrived at Edision the specified location at 7:05 AM and started at 7:30 AM. The quality of the bus is extremely poor the seats are torn damaged and overall uncomfortable and not up to the mark.

Sharing some pics for your reference. I have started the trip with my family and initial experience not up to the mark.

Read all comments and do your research BEFORE booking!

Every comment posted here is completely true....Please consider all of these comments BEFORE you book any tour with TakeTours! You can not rely upon any prior requests you have made before the trip to be carried out once on the trip...For example, I had requested the South Rim over the West Rim of the Grand Canyon only to be told it was too far so we were going to the West Rim in stead.

Everyone on the bus signed up for the South Rim and we had to put up a fight to get what we originally signed up for..Finally, after a lot of pressure, he agreed! The driver's name was Allan and his English was very limited so when we got to Yosemite his only description was, "In the winter, lots of snow on the top..In the spring, snow melts...Big Lake"! It was laughable!

Very little is planned out and explained to the customer, so you go about the trip confused and hoping everything works out well enough....An example of this is: We stopped for a lunch stop and I was told to be back in one hour....The car I got out of was a Honda SUV and it was parked in a particular spot for the customers to return to....I got back to where the car was parked and there was another car there with different people and a different driver putting another set of luggages in the trunk! I ran to the car and asked if my red luggage was back there...

Fortunately, it was...This is the general routine of travel with TakeTours...It is a constant in and out of vehicles and transferring luggage from one car to another because of all their pick up and drop off stops.... So, yes, the statement made about operating "on the fly" is so true...You are either not told what is to be or you immediately find out just before..An example of this is your hotel.!We usually found out while driving!...It appears that the drivers all communicate by phone about what bus comes in which could be anytime depending on traffic or any other circumstance that arises...So, whomever, comes in first and they can manage where a particular group is going, they will drive you....I was told at one point Allan would show up in a Mercedes then someone else showed up in the Honda...Not that I particularly care what car I was picked up with, but nothing ever runs the way it is planned...So, as I said, you are always in a state of influx and confused about the next step....

If you are lucky enough to come in contact with a professional driver, good for you, but I would not count on it...

My advice to you is to look for other tour companies and do a complete research before booking! After all, this is your vacation and it is supposed to be enjoyable....Happy and safe travels to you!

Terrible and worst tour

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

I took 2-day Yosemite and Sequoia and Kings Canyon tour and regret that i booked through them. They put me with their coordinating LASSEN tours (Specifically chinese folks) but.

Bruce - Lassen Tour operator bus 56137 is terrible. They wasted 3.5 hours in moving people from one bus to other and reached destination too late. Skipped all four spots on Itinerary and took us back to a dingy hotel. Next day took us to Kings canyon and just gave 45 mins of visit at this place and skipped Sequoia south side of NP and Giant Sherman tree visit.

Dropped us back to our destination 2 hours early. Charged $20 each at Yosemite and Kings Canyon apart from tour charge of $268. And made us pay mandatory Tip of 16$ each to Tour guide and bus driver. Total waste of time and money.

I would never book tours through Taketours. Tour guide BRUCE - LASSEN Tours speaks in Chinese for their folks more than english.

I’m just another client totally pissed off with taking tour to antelope canyon 7/31/19 William the tour leader brought us to Lin’s supermarket for 30 minutes to have food on our way back to Vegas . He’s probably good to Chinese client but we had a hard time understanding his words as he pronounce words differently .

The tipping was mandatory charging each $10 & collecting them right away not even reaching the first half of the tour which is horseshoe bend What’s worse : he dumped a full big white bag of trash in front of golden nugget Casino. I feel they’re so into rush in coming back & was back in Vegas at 8pm .

Way ahead in time compared to other tours that we joined . Never again taking services with this company !

Disappointing

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

This was my first experience with Take Tours who is the tour co. I purchased my "3 days NY tour" from. It was not a very good experience altogether. Very chaotic and unprofessional. Everything I dealt with was organized haphazardly just as if it was their first day in business.

I traveled all night from L.A. to NYC and arrived in JFK at 8 am. I had to make quite a few phone calls before I could get someone to pick me up and that was a disaster. Take Tours blamed the Jupiter Legend and Jupiter Legend blamed Take Tours! The guy who met me at JFK had no clue what he was supposed to do or what to do with me. It was as if it was his first time! He kept me standing there for an hour with his back to me while he was texting and hardly spoke any English!

Then I find out that "3-day tour" is actually one day! The first and second day you are free to be on your own and do whatever you want! I basically got one full day with their guided tour. So I am not clear why it's called "3 day NY tour"!! If I wanted to do my own sightseeing, why would I purchase a guided tour from these people!!

The Jupiter Legend's office in Flushing looked like a temporary setup. Folding chairs and tables and the guy who was sitting there had a tiny laptop who was watching movies. It felt like either they just moved in or were moving out. They were not very professional. Most of them hardly spoke any English. The tour guide on the 3rd day of my tour charged me $135 for the "Optional" tours which by the way are not optional at all. Plus the tour guide, Mandy, would not accept credit card, only cash without prior notice!!

All and all, communication with everyone involved was a bit difficult since none of them spoke English well. I believe they should mention on their website and advertising material that these tours are guided and ran by Chinese staff so there won't be any misunderstandings. My one day guided tour was 80% in Chinese so if you don't speak Chinese, too bad!

The hotel I was staying, Ramada hotel in Flushing was Ok except last day, while I was taking a shower, a couple with their children tried to walk into my room because they were given my room key by mistake. Apparently, the front desk had no idea that I have not checked out yet! That was a comedy on its own:)

Also one morning I was trying to eat cereal for breakfast when I realized that the milk was bitter!

I could probably go on and on but what is the use. They will probably continue running their business as is.

This 1-day tour with 2 nights hotel and one-way airport transportation cost me around $800! Not worth it!
